Kiffin not done with Meyer

by Arnold Feliciano

How in the world did this quote fall through the cracks last week?

This was the final question and answer from an exclusive interview between VolQuest.com and former Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin. It was published one week ago today. Here is the lead-in …

When the angry masses had departed, Lane Kiffin — with a police escort — ambled from the University of Tennessee’s Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex on his final day as the Volunteers’ football coach. Kiffin granted VolQuest.com this exclusive question-and-answer session on his way out …

VQ: Will you miss not being able to needle Urban Meyer, or will you still needle him from the West Coast?

LK: No, it’s good. Now I can do it and not get fined for it.

It’s amazing how a coach with a losing record and no championships pops off about a coach with Meyer’s resume.

What do you think? Talk about it on the Gatorsports message boards.

The Tennessee doofus, put the big feet in your mouth, is now the USC Trojan (!) doofus. The never won a championship coach is a real dud, bar none.

Lane Kiffin… shoulda known he was ready for Hollywood when I saw him on those creepy Taco Bell Beefy Burrito commercials (”Can I still get that $0.89 deal?” Check out this link. Hilarious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX9oOfdpdlo

being a gator i am glad he is gone. he has no class. i am surprised he took his dad away from the bucs. too bad he won’t be around next year when the gators beat the vols without tebow. he won’t win at usc either. all that talent and no coaching. the playboy coach that just left usc should tell him that.he is an idiot that hasn’t learned to keep his trap shut.

Undoubtedly, Coach Meyer won’t waste a breath responding to a “needle” like Lane Kiffin. I am perplexed as to why an otherwise reputable school would promote a guy like this. There are simply too many questions about the man’s integrity and mental balance to have been placed in a position of influence over aspiring and malleable young men.

I have no doubt he will repeat the same destructive behavior, but at least it will no longer be a stain on the SEC. Was O.J. part of the hiring process?

I think this is hilarius! Kiffin shafts UT, got his *ss handed to him with a 4-4 SEC record, got hammered by UF/Meyer in Gainesville…we ALL know the score was closer than the game…got hammered in the bowl game by VT, has a losing record as a head coach, AND still finds a way to be even more idiotic than he did during the season…lol! I am really going to enjoy watching him fall flat on his face at USC!

I would hope that Coach Meyer is no more bothered by Kiffin’s immaturity than an adult would be at the spoiled brat rantings of a kindergartener. Sorry all you 5 and 6 year olds to compare your maturity to that of Kiffin. The poetic justice in all this is that Kiffin will fall on his face as he did at Tennessee. He can talk the talk but he is unable to walk the walk. At least Tennessee fans now see the true face of Kiffin. It will be only a matter of time before USC fans see the same. Is he what USC football fans really want in what used to be a first class program. Kiffin will bring it to it’s knees, and USC fans will wonder, “What were we thinking?!”

  14. January 20th, 2010 9:06 pm

Lane Kiffin is one of the few bad things with college football. His arrogance only shadows his stupidity. What the University of Florida has done this year in recruting is absolutly amazing!!!Losing the coaches they have lost over the past 2 seasons shows that kids want to go to a class act program not just for the head coach but what the school represents. If the Gators can land all 28 scholarships available then this will arguably be the best class top to bottom”on paper” ever put together. It didnt come from lies and false promises but from integrity and class.Kiffin takes with him semi truck load of problems with others still pending. He knows that he will never beat the Gators and the Bulldogs and the Tigers of the SEC…goodluck with the Ducks and the Beavers

    by Shane B.

  15. January 20th, 2010 9:34 pm

It’s only needling if the content is accurate. Otherwise its stupidity. Kiffin’s comments were baseless, and VolQuest.com obviously felt the need to practice some final homerism before Lane departed.

    Hey Arnold,

    Ha…
Anyway I have to agree that Kiffin has some guts to try this. I had not heard the quote and I have to love this. As a Gator fan I’ve been waiting for a chance to match-up against Pete Carroll and USC to settle the East vs. West debate. But, I think this makes the opportunity to face USC in a title game next year GREAT. ‘D love to embarrass him at the N.C.

I hope for Monte’s sake Lane grows up some day. It’s sad, I mean really sad. I’ll be surprised if Lane last through his contract at USC. Were it not for his dad he’s not a head coach anywhere.

I think Lame Kiffin is a piece of excrament! How in the world is this little jerk even getting coaching jobs? He hasn’t done nothing at any of his past coaching positions but yet these fools keep hiring him. He will never in a million years get a resume like Meyer and continue’s to be bitter because he knows he is not even half the man Meyer is. Kiffin makes me want to throw up.

    by Gator Nation in MD

  21. January 20th, 2010 11:11 pm

“Now I can do it and not get fined for it?”
Is he kidding? Kiffin has 3 years at best. He will then be fired for being one of the worst coaches in USC history. He will go down blaming administration, assistant coaches, fans and whomever else he can think of to blame for his incompetence.
Remember what I say here and I may accept a position with the Gainesville Sun when it comes true. Provided, of course, you can afford my salary.

    by King of Nashville

  22. January 20th, 2010 11:17 pm

Read that when that got out. Man he can’t keep his zipper up (with college girls), can’t keep his wife from other guys zippers; can’t win against Florida; can’t get enough of making fun or poking at a real coach that he would just love to be able to pull his socks up (really not worthy of this either). He is spoiled and wants it handed to him without earning it. I can see him throwing a temper tantrum right now.

Why would anyone respond to a punk loser with no idea of what it means to have a sense of respect. Best of luck USC. You’re going to regret hiring this punk.

  26. January 21st, 2010 12:41 am

Some people talk to get a reaction. Similar to a 4 year old kid who falls down and starts crying and looking for attention from anyone. If the kid keeps getting attention when he falls he is going to repeat the same behavior over and over until the reaction he is looking for isn’t there anymore.
And if you are asking yourself if I am saying that Kiffin acts like a 4 year old then you are exactly right……..

I’m glad UF hires coaches that have and value integrity…..

  27. January 21st, 2010 12:50 am

This guy has no class, far from a season coach, act’s like a spoiled brat
trying to get attention from someone who cares.

I never wish bad things upon anyone, but what ever happens to this
jerk, I wish him some of his own medicine he tries to give Urban Meyer
    and other coaches.
I give him 3 years at the most to fall on his face,

No respect from me you jerk.

    by Lee Bates

  28. January 21st, 2010 12:55 am

The dumba$$ can’t even drive, much less keep up with Urban in regards to coaching ability! I never did hear him singing “Rocky Top’ in Gainesville, I guess because he turned out to be such a “Rocky-Flop”!

    by gatorman770

  29. January 21st, 2010 2:55 am

This guy is writing his own disaster scenario, I promise you. It is only right and good that he return to the scene of his own previously-fouled nest and complete USC’s downfall–an over-rated light weight hooks up with an over-rated heavy weight, plenty of arrogance to go around. This will be SWEET. Even Vols will get some satisfaction, in the end–and that end is NOT so far off.

    by Dru2012

  30. January 21st, 2010 4:20 am

    Dear Urban (and Gator Nation),
Please stay above the fray and don’t respond in kind (any more).
Remember the sayings “Loose lips sink ships” and “You reap what you sow.”
The “football gods” are listening. We can watch and wonder from afar as they mete out judgement, and perhaps they’ll see fit to arrange a “grudge match” for the ages.
The only “smash mouthing” we need to do is with the football!

    by gatorspirit

  31. January 21st, 2010 7:51 am

Lane Kiffin would be a “NO BUDDY” if he had not encouraged his father to join him. Lane needs to grow up, listen, and then maybe, he could coach. It is painful to read how a person like Lane can ridacule a super coach like Urban Meyer. Urban is 1st class, in not making any comments on this little brat. “GO GATORS”

    by WARREN

  32. January 21st, 2010 8:23 am

Punk. Left coast punk. Let’s see what smart azz comments he’ll have in 3 or 4 years after he and his stooge Orgeron has USC in deep doo-doo for major recruiting violations. Where are you going to go after USC cans you, Lane?

    by GatorJay

  33. January 21st, 2010 8:36 am

Here’s a classic case of a smart-ass guy with very limited talent who has no sense of discipline. He is jealous of Myer, so he targets him for mindless harassment. Kiffin better get his priorities straight in a hurry. He is walking into a mine field at USC. His team will go on probation soon. so if he screws up repeatedly as he did at Tennessee, he could find himself on the NCAA s–t list in a hurry and if he commits a major violation or two, well… let’s put it this way. he will be on a very short leash. Tossing verbal barbs at a coach on the other side of the country to perpetuate an old grudge match does not seem to be a winning strategy for Kiffin but why would you expect him to act intelligently? He never has before. I would guess he’s got 3 years, maybe 2 at USC to win a championship. If he doesn’t he’ll go directly to the scrap heap of stupid coaches who couldn’t handle what has increasingly become a very difficult and delicate profession.

  36. January 21st, 2010 9:42 am

It is great that Kiffin took Orgeron and that traveling circus to USC so that they can serve as the post “NCAA Sanction” staff. At some point, he will have to demonstrate some substance (wins) or they will replace him. I am betting he will recruit well for the next head coach. He’ll probably parlay his experience into a job with ESPN, keeping him in the public eye forever … sigh.

    by ALC

  37. January 21st, 2010 9:47 am

Let him talk. I hope he does. All he would do by sniping at the UF coach from USC is give the Gators even MORE National attention, and legitimize them as THE power in college football.

It was one thing when he did it at UT, we are SEC East rivals. BUt to do it from Los Angeles? All he will do is anger his boosters who really don’t care what Florida is doing.

It’ll be really funny when (UCLA Head Coach) Rick Neuheisel is taking potshots at Kiffen, and Kiffen is ignoring him to pick at Meyer.

    by Lizardgrad89

  38. January 21st, 2010 10:07 am

He’s a scum bag, plain and simple. Nothing he does would surprise me. Obviously no comparison between him and Coach Meyer as men and as coaches. Where would he be without his dad ? Maybe Al Davis isn’t nuts after all.

    by Ken Gangler

  39. January 21st, 2010 10:11 am

I would just like to say that one can only hope Meyer gets another chance to play Bitchy McSnipe again. Being a UK fan (but one who pulls for ALL SEC teams), I hope UF gets another chance to make him eat his words. For someone who hasn’t accomplished one thing in his “coaching” career, he needs to shut his mouth. UF is one of the best football programs in the land. They don’t have to prove themselves to anyone, least of all him.

Hey Arnold….this is old news. I read the quote when he announced his departure to USC. I think the world is now seeing the real Lane Kiffin. If he stumbles at USC, he will be the butt of most jokes. Haven’t heard much from him since that infamous day.

THIS IS AWESOME!! Lanester please keep on talking, you are doing more for the gator nation than you realize & keeping everyone laughing. You were a LOSER with the RAIDERS, a LOSER at TENN-I-SEE-YA-LATER and have a GREAT chance of being a LOSER with USC (University of Scummy Coach). Too bad you will not be playing THE UNIVERSITY of FLORIDA and the GATOR NATION in the near future, why, cause you can’t even spell BCS, much less make a trip to one of their bowl games.
In closing, please keep us informed as to what is going on in

  44. January 21st, 2010 10:45 am

The SEC is better off without him. Tenn is better off without him. This guy is a loser. For someone not to have won anything, he can do only one thing and that is to attack those who have accomplished greatness. Attacking Meyer is just another way of looking up at the bottom. He is low class material and USC will pay dearly for it.

    by john

  45. January 21st, 2010 11:29 am

…they say that the loudest car in a train…is the empty one. I will venture to say that Kiffin has a reasonable record with all of that talent, but it won’t be good enough for the standard that Carroll set at USC.

    by Ted McCaffrey

  46. January 21st, 2010 11:59 am

I don’t have a problem with this at all. VolQuest asked the question – he did not bring it up on his own accord.

And he is right – he can now do it and not get fined. He can probably complain about the refs too.

    by Townsend Waddill

  47. January 21st, 2010 12:11 pm

Lane Kiffin is the biggist joke in football. He would be nothing without daddy by his side. The fact is that the SEC would have chewed him up and spit him out. I hope Meyer gets to meet him in a bowl game soon.

This guy is class-less. He wouldnt make a pimple on Urbans butt. He lives in fantasy land having dreams of being like Urban, but he will NEVER get there. I would almost wager he doesnt last more than 2 seasons out there and then his worthless want to be career will be over. He will go out a looser and his daddy will have to live in shame the rest of his life. Second class wanna be looser Lame Kitten…..

The only thing I will miss about Lane Kiffin leaving is how much fun it was to listen to ESPN and hear his latest “foot-in-the-mouth” comment he made. Or hearing how me embarrassed the University of Tennessee. The thing I won’t miss about him leaving Tennessee is how he brought down the SEC. I’ve never seen anybody do that much damage in that short of a time period….Oh wait, there was a coach at the Oakland Raiders a year or two ago…named…um….oh yeah, LANE KIFFIN!!!

Lane Kiffin is old news, and he can’t stand it. He’s also the luckiest guy on the planet…does poorly at 2 other coaching jobs, and gets hired for one of the highest profile jobs in the country. We can look forward to many more years of USC sanctions because of him, while Urban Meyer continues to quietly win.

  62. January 21st, 2010 8:51 pm

Lane Kiffin is a excellent recruiter that knows how to assemble a excellent staff to make him look even better as a Head Coach. However, he does not know how to stop running off at the mouth and stay committed to a job at a respectable University like Tennessee. The University of Tennessee is a very respectable collegiate institution. I came very close to attending Tennessee until former Florida Head Coach Ron Zook persuade me to attend the University of Florida. Current Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer is a excellent recruiter, but average Head Coach. Former Defensive Coordinator Charlie Strong saved the University of Florida from embarrassment. He saved them so many times that it does not surprise me one bit why he did not hesitate to leave and take over the Head Coaching job at the University of Louisville.

  63. January 21st, 2010 11:54 pm

Lane Kiffin has a IQ about thesame as his wife’s waist size…22 I’d guess.

I don’t believe Urban Meyer, Gator Nation or the rest of the SEC should pay any attention to him. Well, you might want to check the Sunday sports pages in years to come to see USC being beaten by quality PAC 10 teams and read about USC being put on recruiting sanctions clear back to Reggie Bush but including Kiffin when he arrives on the left coast.

Typical Kiffin. Runs his mouth without accomplishing anything. He leaves the SEC with a record of “almost” and enters USC like a conquering hero. Over all his head coaching record is pitiful and I hope it continues to move downward. Urban Meyer has accomplished something in his career. Kiffin has talked smack and done nothing.

No comments Kiffin makes about Meyer are important to even mention, because Kiffin is NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE with Urban Meyer (he wishes he could be that good and have that much character). Tennessee fans, you got a break on this one.
