In an interview published Wednesday on an Ohio State fan website, the wife of former University of Florida head coach — and current OSU coach — Urban Meyer talks at length on her feelings about UF and Southeastern Conference fans. SEC fans, Shelley Meyer is quoted as saying, are “just meaner.” Gator fans were quick to turn on her husband, even after two national championships, she says. “But, here is my perception (about Florida fans): I think they feel like… Read More »

A handful of former Gators spoke with The Sun this week about new coordinator Kurt Roper and how his system will help Florida’s offense, its players and ultimately head coach Will Muschamp. To read the story, click here. Here are some leftover comments from those interviews: Former WR Chris Doering “I think fans got spoiled from what we were able to do there in the mid-90s offensively. It’s not enough just to win. At Florida, for whatever reason, you have… Read More »
Florida lost a valuable asset to its staff Wednesday when wide receivers coach Joker Phillips resigned from his post. The 26-year coaching veteran was a huge hire for Will Muschamp in late 2012 after two of the last three WR coaches had a combined experience of just seven years. Phillips helped Trey Burton, Quinton Dunbar and Solomon Patton have career-highs in catches and receiving yards last season, even with the injuries and struggles UF had offensively. But one of the… Read More »
Florida coach Will Muschamp was asked at his speaking event Tuesday about former Missouri defensive end Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be selected in the NFL draft. Muschamp said Sam would have been welcomed at UF, and he recently spoke to his team about him. “Anyone’s sexual preference is their business,” Muschamp said. “It’s not our business to judge them. Until you lead a perfect life, don’t be judging others.” “Good answer,” one fan said as the… Read More »

You don’t have many chances to catch the UF men’s basketball team at the O’Connell Center this month. Actually, just two opportunities. The first is Tuesday against Kansas, 7 p.m. And then, Dec. 29 vs. Savannah State at 3 p.m. The Gators play another non-conference game at home on Jan. 4 vs. Richmond at 3 p.m. before beginning the SEC schedule at the O-Dome on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. vs. South Carolina.
The Latest Line out of Las Vegas has Florida State by 27 over Florida. That may go change either way by kickoff Saturday. What do you think? FSU will win by more than 27 or will UF hold it at under that line?
A whirlwind of rumors hit the Twittersphere early Friday morning, before they were put to rest hours later. The speculation was that Florida quarterback Tyler Murphy would not play Saturday at Missouri because of an injury. Then, it was first reported by The Sun that Murphy hurt his shoulder against LSU, but would play in the Missouri game according to sources. A Sun reporter saw Murphy at Gainesville Regional Airport later Friday. When asked about the injury, Murphy said he had no… Read More »
