Sign of Donovan consistency

The Florida men’s basketball program is a win away from an impressive show of consistency under coach Billy Donovan. The Gators (19-4) would reach the 20-win mark this week with a victory at Kentucky on Tuesday or at home against Tennessee on Saturday for the 14th consecutive season, the longest such streak in the SEC and the fifth-longest in the nation (Kansas 22, Duke and Syracuse (including this season) 15 and Gonzaga 14). Syracuse and coach Jim Boeheim have the… Read More »

Tebow outscores politicians in national poll

In polling U.S. citizens over various political figures and institutions, NBC and the Wall Street Journal called an option for the Gator Nation. And Tim Tebow scored. In their monthly political poll, the news organizations surveyed 1,000 people for their opinions, also, of the former University of the Florida quarterback, now the comeback king for the Denver Broncos. Considering both fans and detractors, Tebow outdid the political parties and politicians — including President Barack Obama — by more than 20… Read More »

Tebow: King of all media

It’s been a great week for Tim Tebow fans, who can’t get enough of the former University of Florida superstar. ESPN can’t go an hour without mentioning the Denver Broncos quarterback this week. And columnists all over the country are writing about him. It’s Tebow Time all the time. Tebow is again gracing the cover of  Sports Illustrated magazine this week, the 12th time (including while at UF), he as been on it. If you missed the Broncos’ win over… Read More »

Another Tebow turnaround has ‘em talking

Another seemingly miraculous comeback by the Denver Broncos – a 13-10 victory over Chicago led by former Gator Tim Tebow – has everybody talking. Reactions in the media range from the shoulder shrugs, wonder and befuddlement on ESPN Sunday night to a religious-persecution diatribe on FoxNews.com. Here are few of the comments worth noting: Lindsey Vonn a fan – and friend “I got to see the Broncos’ amazing comeback win Sunday with Tim Tebow’s family, with his brother Robby and… Read More »

Florida in running for top back

Florida’s recruiting efforts at running back are getting interesting with the decommitment Sunday of Stone Mountain, Ga., running back Mike Davis. Florida, although a longshot, is in the running for Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook running back Keith Marshall, who will make his college choice public at 2:45 p.m. today. He is down to Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. The 6-foot-1, 190 pound Marshall, 17, rushed for 1,891 yards and 25 touchdowns this past season. Marshall ran for 1,560 yards and… Read More »

Tebow talk: comments from Youngblood, Revis and sportswriters

The talk of the American sports world this morning is Denver quarterback Tim Tebow doing what Tim Tebow does, leading a last-minute comeback drive to win, again, despite trouble earlier in the game. This last drive was 95 yards and ended with a 20-yard touchdown run to give the Broncos a 17-13 victory over the Jets on Thursday night. It left the Jets “shocked” and crestfallen. Here’s what some football and media professionals are saying around the country about the… Read More »

Elway: Tebow brings ‘that spark’

It wasn’t the “Play Tebow!!!” billboard. Instead, Broncos legend John Elway told NFL Total Access that the team’s new starting quarterback, Tim Tebow, “adds a great spark for us. So we’re looking forward to see what he can do.” That was evident, he said, in the second half against the Chargers on Sunday, when the former Florida star replaced Kyle Orton. “It’s just a matter of him going out and doing the best he can,” said Elway, the Broncos’ executive… Read More »

Plenty of opinions on Tebow

When it comes to Tim Tebow’s pro potential, there are sure enough opinions to go around. The take from here is that Tebow can stand some seasoning. His skill set was great for the college game and Urban Meyer’s spread offense at Florida. It takes a different set of skills to be a productive NFL quarterback. So what if Tebow doesn’t start or play much this year? He could use the time to learn the game at that level. There… Read More »
